Died, April 13, 2004. Ruth Jeannette Williams Flanders, 96, of Placentia, Ca. and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at the Carriage House Manor in Fullerton, California. She was born January 23, 1908, in Mahaska County, the daughter of Lawrence and Bertha Belle Kinkade Williams. She was a graduate of the Bussey High School. On August 9, 1930, she was united in marriage to Irven Flanders at Oskaloosa, and he died on March 16, 1993. She was a member of the Coal Creek Church, and early in her adult life she was very active in the church, teaching Sunday school and singing in duets and trios. She was a homemaker all of her life. In 1940 Ruth moved to Illinois and she returned to Iowa in 1946. Ruth remained in Iowa on the farm until she and Irven moved to Placentia, California in 1986. She enjoyed participating in neighborhood activities, being involved with the church, reading, gardening, and sewing especially quilts. She was also quite handy, one year she built her own kitchen cupboards. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers: D. Williams, and William Williams, and a sister: Bernice Parker. Graveside funeral services for Ruth Flanders will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Coal Creek Cemetery in Mahaska County. Those planning to attend the graveside service should meet at the Bates Funeral Chapel by 1:15 on Tuesday, to form a procession to the cemetery. Burial will be in the Coal Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 4 ? 6 Monday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or Parkinson's disease. Following the graveside services, a reception will be held from 3-5 pm at Comfort Inn, Oskaloosa.
