Ruth Lamoine was born in Moravia, Iowa, Apri1 29, 1910, the first daughter of Charles and Naomi Ensley. In 1916, her family moved to Montana and homesteaded 30 miles south of Big Sandy with other family members that had moved earlier. Ruth Lamoine was born in Moravia, Iowa, Apri1 29, 1910, the first daughter of Charles and Naomi Ensley. In 1916, her family moved to Montana and homesteaded 30 miles south of Big Sandy with other family members that had moved earlier. At an early age she was baptized by Brother Van, the renowned Methodist trail minister. This event was one of her early life highlights she was always proud of. On June 14, 1928, Ruth married Joe W. Downs and became the instant mother of Joe Downs Jr. and twin girls Mary Zoe and Ruth Ellen. To this marriage was born a daughter, Donna Lea in 1937. Joe Sr. died in January 1955. Ruth married Griffith Clark in August 1956, adding five more children to her loving care. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; her two daughters, Zoe and Ellen; her son, Joe Jr.; her sons-in-law, Bill Stephenson and Bill Hartz; her brothers, Charles, Myron, David; and sister, Esther; her grandson, Dennis Downs; and her great-grand daughter Jacquline Watts. Ruth Clark was the matriarch of a family that extended across four generations. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Downs Watts and husband Max; 22 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was an avid reader, a versatile homemaker and a prolific and dedicated letter writer. She was engaged in numerous community activities, especially those church related. Her love was the glue that held these many extended families together. She was loved by all and will be sorely missed. Church services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Montana on the corner of 8th and Warren. Family prefers memorials to the First Baptist Church, 359 N. Warren, Helena, MT 59601. Friends may pay their respects beginning today at 2 until 8 p.m. and on Monday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Hagler-Anderson Chapel, after which cremation will take place. Private family interment of cremains will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
