Description	:	Mrs. Ruth Custer Denham, 59, daughter of Mrs. Bessie Rhodes Custer, and a former resident of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, died Friday after at the Mercy Hospital in Miami, Florida. Mrs. Denham went to Miami on March 15th for a vacation where she became ill and entered the hospital, there on March 19th. A daughter of Mrs. Bessie Custer and the late Charles E. Read More	Mrs. Ruth Custer Denham, 59, daughter of Mrs. Bessie Rhodes Custer, and a former resident of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, died Friday after at the Mercy Hospital in Miami, Florida. Mrs. Denham went to Miami on March 15th for a vacation where she became ill and entered the hospital, there on March 19th. A daughter of Mrs. Bessie Custer and the late Charles E. Custer, she was born on May 26, 1900 at Linville and also later lived at Genoa and Broadway before moving to Harrisonburg. She graduated from the Harrisonburg High School in the class of 1920 and resided in Catonsville, Md. for a number of years prior to moving to Arlington. Mrs. Denham held a responsible position with the Federal Government in Washington. She resided at 1300 South Thomas Street in Arlington. She was active in the work of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. and served as Department President for the State of Virginia. Besides her mother, who resides at 485 Collicello Street: she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. B. T. Denton, of Harrisonburg; Miss Billie Custer, of Arlington; and Mrs. Roy Dolby of Mechanicsburg, Pa. and two brothers, B. Franklyn Custer of Harrisonburg and Richard O. Custer, of Waynesboro. Her father preceeded her in death in 1943. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at eleven o’clock from the chapel of the Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. James w. Turner officiating. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery. Her body will arrive here Sunday evening and will remain at the funeral home until the hour of the services. Relative, friends and pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:45 Tuesday morning. The members of the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7:30 until 8:30. The members of the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post No. 2216 in Staunton will conduct memorial rites at the graveside. Active pallbearers will be George Delo, Frank wade, Herman L. Hollar, Frank C. Switzer, J. W. Miller and Bern F. Castle.
