Description	:	Ruth L. Hammer, daughter of James Henry and Sarah (Atkinson) Martin, was born Oct. 24, 1891, in Lamoni, Iowa and died after a brief illness in the Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 18 days. Ruth was baptized into the RLDS faith in 1904. She attended the Lamoni Public Schools and Graceland College. She had been a member of the Tuesday and Kensington Clubs. Ruth was baptized into the RLDS faith in 1904. She attended the Lamoni Public Schools and Graceland College. She had been a member of the Tuesday and Kensington Clubs. On June 14, 1913, she was married to Ray A. Hammer. Most of Ruth's life was spent near Lamoni except from 1917 to 1931 when they lived in Omaha, Neb., where Ray was in business. Later years were spent in Lamoni. Last May she moved to Ackley, Iowa where she lived at the United Presbyterian Home, a retirement residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; one sister and three brothers. Survivors are son, Max of Lamoni; daughters, Barbara Shipman of Tacoma, Wash., and Beverly Ryken of Ackley; step-sister, Gladys Allen of Lamoni; sister-in-law, Wanda Derry; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Services were held on March 16 from the Lamoni RLDS church. Officiants were Robert Hynden and David France. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
