Matthew W. Rueger officiating. Ruth Lorraine Winter was born in Story County near Colo. When she was 1 year old she moved with her parents and sister to a farm north of State Center. Ruth was baptized on Dec. 21, 1924, at the St. John's Lutheran Church, rural State Center. She attended St. John's Lutheran Parochial School and was confirmed on April 10, 1938. On Feb. 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Martin G. Winter at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in State Center. They became the parents of three children. During her life, Ruth was actively involved in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hubbard as a Sunday School Teacher and Mission Circle member and officer. She dedicated much of her time and talents to sewing quilts for World Relief. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Survivors included her husband Martin, two sons, a daughter, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a sister, and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents.
