She graduated from Cory School, Aboite Township in 1926 and worked as an inspector at General Electric for 33 years, retiring in 1974. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Ruth was born March 17, 1914, at home, on St. Patrick's Day, at Shamrock Farm, Aboite Township, the daughter of Nicholas G. and Ethel M. (Hatfield) Kaough. On June 5, 1948 she married her beloved husband of 65 years Ralph F. Hine in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Roanoke and he passed away Oct. 9, 2013. Surviving are her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Ross Kaough; and a sister, Agnes Kowalczyk. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Roanoke. Father Daniel Durkin officiating. Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes, with a Rosary service at 3 p.m. Burial will follow service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Roanoke. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church for masses c/o Roanoke Memorial Chapel, 240 Crestwood Drive, Roanoke, (IN 46783).
