Ruth was born on October 4, 1922, the daughter of Louis B. and Elsie May (Nordyke) Sharp in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. She moved from Hayward, Wisconsin, to Clemons, Iowa, at the age of eight and graduated from Clemons High School. In 1942, Ruth moved from Clemons to Marshalltown. She was employed at the Ankeny Ordnance Plant from 1942 to 1945 and was a clerk at Fisher Controls from 1945 to 1979 when she retired. Ruth married David Himes on June 24, 1949, in Waterloo, Iowa. Ruth is survived by her stepchildren Blanche Haynes of LeGrand, Iowa, Pearl Wagner of Marshalltown, Jean Edens of California, and Sharon Woodside of Marshalltown; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant brother; stepson Lauren Himes; and siblings Pearl Berends, Mildred Rust, Vivian Wooten, and Louis B. Sharp.
