MAYODAN – Ruth Margaret Catherine Hall Price, 96, of Mayodan, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She fought a courageous battle with several ailments during the last couple of years, but she always faced her health problems with a great attitude built on her strong faith. Ruth loved raising big gardens, but she enjoyed even more giving it to others and helping where she could. Cooking and enjoying meals with family and friends were highlights of her life along with keeping her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her house was always the center of holidays and family get-togethers. She also enjoyed traveling to the mountains and finding bargains at various flea markets and yard sales. A special remembrance goes to her loving dog, Betsy, who brought her much pleasure and companionship in her last years. A special thanks goes to the staff on 100 Hall at Jacobs Creek Nursing & Rehab, who helped look after Ruth during the last year. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, October 8, 6 until 9 pm at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison. The funeral will be held at True Gospel Baptist Church in Madison at 2 pm, Wednesday, October 9. Burial will follow in the Hall Family Cemetery. Born in Mayodan, Mrs. Price was the daughter of Mary Ellen Case Hall and Robert Gideon Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years James Norfleet Price; her son Harold Dean (Pete) Price I; her daughter Mickey Ruth Price; and her brothers Thomas Gideon Hall and William Clinton (Will) Hall. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Price Cole of Mayodan; son, James Hall Price and wife, Debra, of Mayodan; brother, John Curtis (Tobe) Hall of Mayodan; her grandchildren, Chris Schultz and wife, Angie, Harold Dean Price II, Jeneane Price and husband, George Law, of Madison, Mary Elizabeth Price and husband, Keith Long, of Greensboro, Rebekah Ruth Price of Greensboro, Mallorie Margaret Price of Chapel Hill, and Samuel James Price of Mayodan; and great-grandchildren, Chase Christopher Schultz, Mary Kathryn Schultz, Rachel Dunn, Jonathon Dunn, Chase Price and Ryan Price. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, 205 Boone Road, Eden, NC 27288. Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
