Description	:	MESA, Ariz. -- Ruth Margaret Lanaghan, 92, of Mesa, AZ, and formerly of Clinton, IA, died Monday, January 12, 2009, at the HOspice of the Valley in Chandler, AZ. Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Saturdayt, March 7, 2009, at 10:30 am. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery. Ruth was born September 25, 1916, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Edward J. and Frieda W. Lange Langheim. She married Fred Passick in 1941 in Clinton, IA; he died in 1971. She later married Walter Melchert in 1974 in Clinton; he died in 1991. She married Joe Lanaghan in Mesa, AZ in 1995; he died in 1999. Ruth was a Clinton High graduate. She had been employed as a credit reporter and typist for the Clinton Credit Bureau. Ruth was a member of Zion Lutheran Church; she taught Sunday school and Bible school and was a member of the Ruth Circle. She was also a Rainbow Girl, was a member of the Women's Club in Clinton and Maquoketa, a member of the First Lutheran Church of Maquoketa where she was financial secretary for 10 years. She also belonged to the Esther Circle and Country Club in Maquoketa. Survivors include her son, William Passick and his wife, Linn, of Mesa, AZ, Bill's 2 daughters, Leigh Hanneken of Maracopa, AZ, and Brooke Passick of Seattle, WA; step daughters, Judy (Daniel) Diekhoff of Charlestown, IN, Joanne Haberman of San Bernardino, CA, and Elaine Jebsen of Sun City; AZ; a stepson, Warren Melchert of Sun City; AZ; her sister, Evelyn Kamphuis of Clinton, IA; 2 granddaughters, 8 stepgrandchildren and 8 stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands and parents. Memorials may be made to Zion Luther Church of Hospice of the Valley, Chandler, AZ.
