Ruth Marie Voigts Senne was born January 26, 1917, in rural West Point Township, Butler County, Iowa, the daughter of Carle (Charlie) and Emma (Niehaus) Voigts and died Monday, February 8, 2016, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison. Ruth received her education in the West Point Township School. Ruth was baptized February 14, 1917, at her parents’ home by Pastor Conrad Weltner. Ruth was confirmed April 3, 1932 by Pastor H. Diers at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vilmar. On December 10, 1939, she was united in marriage to Hugo Senne at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clarksville by Pastor S. M. Becker. Ruth and Hugo farmed all of their lives in rural Greene, raising two sons, William and Stanley. She enjoyed helping with various projects with WELCA women of the church. And making quilts and clothing for needy groups. But when it came to home she loved to bake coffee cake. Her main interest was her family and Grandchildren, quilting, sewing and gardening. Before marriage she helped in various homes in the area then was a church custodian for 24 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugo Senne in 1993, her parents, two brothers, Fred and Henry Voigts, two sisters, Emma Rosenwinkle and Anna Heuer three great grandchildren, Allisabeth Kay Edeker and twins, Benjamin Charlie and Michael Lee Floyd. Living family members include two sons, five grandchildren: twelve great grandchildren, step grandson, one great great-granddaughter.
