Description	:	Ruth Martha Meyer, age 91, of Waverly, died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly. Ruth was born on April 21, 1920, on a farm southwest of Alta Vista, Iowa, the daughter of Gust and Minna (Pockrandt) Schmidt. At an early age, her parents purchased a farm a short distance from her birthplace, and she attended Alta Vista Public Schools. Ruth moved to Waverly in 1937, and completed her education at the Waverly High School, graduating in 1939. Read More	Ruth Martha Meyer, age 91, of Waverly, died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly. Ruth was born on April 21, 1920, on a farm southwest of Alta Vista, Iowa, the daughter of Gust and Minna (Pockrandt) Schmidt. At an early age, her parents purchased a farm a short distance from her birthplace, and she attended Alta Vista Public Schools. Ruth moved to Waverly in 1937, and completed her education at the Waverly High School, graduating in 1939. After graduation, she worked at Drexler Shoe Store in Waverly until Mr. Drexler's death in 1947. Ruth was then employed as secretary in the law office of Attorney Oliver J. Reeve until 1951, when she went to work for the Bremer County Abstract Company, retiring in 1982. Ruth was instrumental in establishing the Drexler Center in memory of Joe and Louise Drexler. Ruth was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Alta Vista, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Waverly, until her marriage to Karl W. Meyer on July 26, 1964, when she became a member of Peace United Church Of Christ in Waverly. Ruth's memory is honored by a nephew, Melvin (Mary Ellen) Liebers of Wayzata, MN, a niece, Patricia Liebers of Chelan, WA, and a grandniece, Kate Liebers of Columbus, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Karl on March 5, 1993, a brother in infancy, two sisters, Ethel Schmidt and Lilian Liebers, a niece, Myrna Liebers and a nephew, Howard Liebers. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, at the Peace United Church of Christ in Waverly with Pastor Jon Hennings officiating. Burial will follow at the Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 30, at the Funeral Home in Waverly where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Peace United Church of Christ or Waverly Humane Society.
