Former Clark County resident Ruth Martha Darling died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, in McKee Medical Center in Loveland. She was 86. She was born Oct. 17, 1914, in Lone Tree Township, Merrick County, Neb. Mrs. Darling, a licensed practical nurse, worked at Clark County Hospital and later at Vancouver Memorial Hospital. During World War II, she worked in the shipyards. Former Clark County resident Ruth Martha Darling died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, in McKee Medical Center in Loveland. She was 86. She was born Oct. 17, 1914, in Lone Tree Township, Merrick County, Neb. Mrs. Darling, a licensed practical nurse, worked at Clark County Hospital and later at Vancouver Memorial Hospital. During World War II, she worked in the shipyards. She enjoyed needlework, and when she was 84, she began oil painting. Mrs. Darling was a charter member of MacArthur Boulevard Christian Church in Vancouver. In Loveland, she was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and St. Martha's Guild. Preceding her in death were her husband, Roy, in 1978; a son, Arthur J., in August; and two daughters, Flora E. Anthony in 1987 and Nancy J. Ramey in 1999. Survivors include two daughters, Katherine A. Jones of Loveland and Karen L. Reinhardt of Los Angeles; one son, Leslie A. of Gig Harbor; one sister, Edna F. Finnell of Fairfield, Calif.; two brothers, Donald H. Sutter of Vancouver and Herschel C. Sutter of Grants Pass, Ore.; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. A service will begin at 11 a.m. today at All Saints Episcopal Church in Loveland. A memorial service will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Good Shepherd in Vancouver. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Vancouver. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ruth Darling Memorial Fund, in care of All Saints Episcopal Church, 3448 N. Taft Ave., Loveland, CO 80538.
