She was born May 22, 1919, at Pittsburg, KS, to Robert and Alice (Johnson) Combs. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1938. She was a lifelong resident of Pittsburg. Ruth married Samuel W. Haslam on February 21, 1942, at Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1996. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Read More	Ruth Maxine Haslam, 97, of Pittsburg, passed away at 4:20 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Medicalodge of Frontenac. She was born May 22, 1919, at Pittsburg, KS, to Robert and Alice (Johnson) Combs. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1938. She was a lifelong resident of Pittsburg. Ruth married Samuel W. Haslam on February 21, 1942, at Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1996. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ruth was a Girl Scout leader and a Sunday School teacher. She directed Bible School and was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene from the age of 12. She was always a Christian example to all that knew her. Ruth helped her husband, Sam, with his Haslam's Rubber Stamp business. She also helped her daughter, Candy, in her Drapery Business. Survivors include two daughters, Jeannetta (Wayne) Dahl of Olathe, KS, and Candis "Candy" (Darrell) Gibson of Pittsburg. Grandchildren, Melissa (Barry) Jackson of Edgerton, KS, Mark (Jennifer) Dahl of Vancouver, WA, Matthew (Brenda) Gibson of Paola, KS, Peter (Shannon) Dahl of Louisville, KY, Marlene (Scott) Shirley of Merriam, KS, and Philip (Kim) Dahl of Olathe, KS, 17 great grandchildren, "Adopted" grandchildren, Bradley (Cylena) Leach of Girard and Jacob (Crystal) Alexander of Pittsburg, and Serina. She is preceded in death by her parents, one infant grandson, Chris Dahl and one infant great-grandson, Peter Jackson. Our family wants to thank all of the staff and caregivers at Medicalodge of Frontenac for the care Ruth received while she lived there. They made the last two weeks of her life very comfortable. A service is set for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2016, at the First Church of the Nazarene, Pittsburg, with Reverend Jim Sukraw and Reverend C.L. Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday (December 2), at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the First Church of the Nazarene Prime Time Adult Ministry. These may be left at or sent to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
