Ms. Kilgallon was born at McLeod Infirmary in Florence, SC, on April 5, 1956, the daughter of Shirley Orvin Munn and the late Dozier Merritt Munn. Read More	PAMPLICO - Vivian Ruth Munn Kilgallon, age 55, died with her family at her side on Thursday, March 8, 2012, in a local hospital. Ms. Kilgallon was born at McLeod Infirmary in Florence, SC, on April 5, 1956, the daughter of Shirley Orvin Munn and the late Dozier Merritt Munn. Ms. Kilgallon graduated from Hannah-Pamplico High School. She attended Columbia College and graduated from Francis Marion College. She was employed at South Carolina Room of Florence County Library. She started part-time with Florence County Library System late in 2000 and began full-time in August 2004. She quickly developed a passion for genealogy and local history as she worked in the E.N. Zeigler History room of the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library in Florence. She was proud of the work she did in the South Carolina Room and was selected to receive the "Directors Award for Customer Service in 2009." She was given the award because of the many compliments that her supervisors received about the quality of her work from library patrons that she helped from across the United States. She helped index the Chronicle, World War II newsletters to Darlington soldiers. Her knowledge of Pee Dee history and its residents was a priceless asset to the community. She served on the board of the Palmetto Archives, Libraries and Museums Council on Preservation. She was a member of the National Genealogical Society and the South Carolina Genealogical Society. She decided that she wanted to further her education and was selected for the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Scholarship to attend the Master's program in Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina in 2010. Her drive and determination led her to achieve excellent grades in all of her course work and she was well respected by her professors and peers in the program. She was approximately three-quarters of the way through the program at the time of her death. Ms. Kilgallon was a member of the Pamplico United Methodist Church. She had a kind heart and did not know a stranger. She loved her work and loved helping others. Surviving are her mother of Pamplico and her son, Cameron Lee Kilgallon of Florence; a sister, Heidi (Tim) Hyman, a brother, David Marshall (Becky) Munn, and a niece, Anna Preslee Munn, all of Pamplico. She was predeceased by her father, Dozier M. Munn, and beloved brother, Dozier Merritt Munn, Jr., who passed away January 21, 2012. Funeral services will be Monday, March 12, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Florence. Services will be directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Marshall Munn, 210 S. Walnut St., Pamplico. Memorials may be made to Pamplico United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 277, Pamplico, SC 29583; or to St. John's Episcopal Church, 252 S. Dargan St., Florence, SC 29506.
