Jewell, 93, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Valle Vista Manor. She was born Jan. 12, 1908, at Annandale, Minn., to Perry W. and Grace (Lord) Best. She moved with her parents to Montana when she was young, settling in the Moore/Buffalo area. She received her schooling at Buffalo and Moore, graduating from Moore High School. In 1938, at Chicago, she was united in marriage to Frank Jewell. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1977. Jewell was a clerk at McDonald's Department Store in Lewistown for many years. She enjoyed yard work, crocheting and sewing. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Gardner of Lewistown; four nieces, Shirley Allar and Joy Hudson, both of Seattle, Wash., Marjorie Clark of Baker City, Ore., and Grace Heller of Judith Gap; a nephew, Douglas White of Judith Gap; a sister, Hazel Jewell of Lewistown; and two brothers, Dale Best of Lewistown and Calvin Best of Yuma, Ariz. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters. Graveside memorial services will be at Central Montana Memorial Gardens at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Creel Funeral Home of Lewistown is in charge.
