Ruth Hofer was born June 26, 1914 at Albee, SD to Herman and Julie Erickson while visiting Herman Erickson's parents. The Erickson's returned to their home in Sioux Falls where Ruth has been a lifelong resident. Read More	Ruth Naomi Hofer Jun 26 1914 - Sep 10 2005 Ruth Hofer, 91, of Sioux Falls, died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at her residence. Ruth Hofer was born June 26, 1914 at Albee, SD to Herman and Julie Erickson while visiting Herman Erickson's parents. The Erickson's returned to their home in Sioux Falls where Ruth has been a lifelong resident. Ruth attended Mark Twain Elementary School, graduated from Washington High School and attended Augustana College. She worked at Montgomery Ward, S & L, Newberys, The Old Courthouse Museum Gift Shop and as an aide to her husband, Elvin Hofer in Hofer Plumbing & Heating. Ruth enjoyed music and dancing, collecting antiques and fishing with her husband and her brother, Al. She loved people and especially her family. She loved Sioux Falls and was pleased with the growth and development taking place in the city, particularly downtown and at the Falls. She could never imagine why anyone would want to live anywhere else. The city never had a more faithful supporter. Ruth married Milton Fazendin in 1934. He passed away in 1975 and is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery. She married Elvin Hofer in 1941. He passed away in 1990, and is buried in the National Cemetery at Sturgis, South Dakota. Survivors include her daughter Carol Ann Fazendin Blakely and husband, Robert Blaine Blakely, of Bend Oregon; two grandsons and one granddaughter, Robert J. Blakely of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mark W. Blakely of Somersworth, New Hampshire, and Cheryl Ann Blakely Kirk of Grants Pass, Oregon; 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Alfred H. Erickson of Sioux Falls, SD; and a sister, Wilma (Billie) Main of Ellis, SD; and dearest friend and companion, Paul Lansky of Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband; four sisters, Julie Erickson, Alice Mae Erickson, Ethel Erickson Spade Sunderman, and Grace Erickson Bass; and one brother, Ed Erickson. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Wednesday at First Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Hills of Rest Memorial Park. The family will be present to greet friends from 7:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Main Avenue location. Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church of Sioux Falls, or Sioux Valley Hospice of Sioux Falls.
