She was born July 20, 1925, in Surry County to Stephen Winston and Meccie Hutchens Childress. She was a member of Stony Knoll Methodist Church in Surry County. Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her husband, Escar Lawson. Surviving are her children, Jimmy (Faye) Lawson of Dobson, Regina (Gary) Martin of East Bend, Wanda Lawson of the home and Teresa Caputo of Courtney; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
