Description	:	NEWPORT NEWS - Ruth Newton Deuell, 63, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 22, 1997, after a courageous battle with leukemia. She left behind her husband of 38 years, Roy M. Deuell, and two children, Beverly D. Holmes, and her husband, Frank, of Williamsburg and Sonny Deuell, and his wife, Mary, of Newport News. There are also four grandchildren, Casey, Joshua and Jessica Holmes and Zach Deuell. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Morgan Newton. Mrs. Deuell retired from Roses after 40 years of service. She was a faithful member of Parkview Baptist Church, where she devoted much time to working with the youth. Of her many achievements, she derived the most pleasure and pride from her family. She is loved and greatly missed. We know that one day we will be together again. The family wishes to thank Dr. Harden, Dr. Mackenzie and the ICU staff at Riverside Hospital for their compassionate care. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening in the W.J. Smith and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Parkview Baptist Church with Rev. Lawrence J. Biermann and Dr. R. Furman Kenny officiating. Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park. Published in Daily Press on March 24, 1997.
