Born November 20, 1931 in Johnsonville, he was the son of the late Johnny Joseph Thompson and Kathleen Altman Thompson Hatcher. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Joseph “Joe” Thompson, Cleo T. Larson and Emily T. Bestpitch. Rutledge was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to all. He retired from TS Ragsdale after thirty-five years of service. Born November 20, 1931 in Johnsonville, he was the son of the late Johnny Joseph Thompson and Kathleen Altman Thompson Hatcher. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Joseph “Joe” Thompson, Cleo T. Larson and Emily T. Bestpitch. Rutledge was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to all. He retired from TS Ragsdale after thirty-five years of service. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of sixty years, Claudia Jones Thompson; children, David Thompson, Jeff Thompson and Joyce T. Edwards (Mark); siblings, Douglas “Doug” Hatcher, Harold “Buster” Hatcher (Susan), Dessie T. Wright, Iris Ewing and Reba McCaffrey; uncle, Reginald Altman; grandchildren, Jeffrey Dale Thompson, Matthew W. Edwards and Marcus D. Edwards; great grandchildren, Aubrey Nicole Thompson and Hunter Rutledge Thompson and many other family and friends who will miss him. The family will receive friends from 5pm until 7pm Friday, November 8, 2019 at Watson Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held 10:30am Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Watson Funeral Services Chapel with Rev. Scott Altman and Rev. Danny Banks officiating. Burial will follow at Eaddy Ford Cemetery, Johnsonville SC. Please sign a guestbook at watsonfuneralservices.com.
