He was born Nov. 15, 1946, in Abilene, the son of Harold and Lavina (Riffel) Fick. He was born Nov. 15, 1946, in Abilene, the son of Harold and Lavina (Riffel) Fick. He grew to manhood south of Abilene, attended the Rural Center Grade School, and graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1964. On Dec. 3, 1966, he married Carol Foust in Abilene. He attended Barber School in Wichita, and owned and operated Town and Country Barber Shop in Abilene with Dennis Kerbs for 34 years. He served in the Kansas National Guard for six years. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church of rural Abilene, a member of the Abilene Elks Lodge where he served as trustee, and was active in Ducks Unlimited for many years.Survivors include his wife, Carol, of the home; one son, Justin Fick of Abilene; a sister, Janet Swarts of Topeka; three grandchildren and other relatives.He was preceded in death by his parents.Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Abilene with the Rev. Jim Edwards officating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, where friends may call until time of service.Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Abilene Elks Lodge and may be left at the funeral home.
