He was preceded in death by his wife, Dovie Johnson Cheek, of 64 years and a son, James Cheek of Charlotte. He is survived by: one daughter, Barbara Hinson and husband, Homer of Troutman; two sons, Don Cheek and wife, Linda of North Wilkesboro, Michael Cheek and wife, Lesa of Wilkesboro; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
