Description	:	Sabina Carnahan was from Maysville Kentucky. Her parents were John Carnahan Susan Hunt. Family tradition has it that Sabina Carnahan's father John, operated a ferry on the Ohio River. Most likely it was between his home in Maysville Kentucky and Aberdeen Ohio. This is where the historic Zane's traced crossed the Ohio River and where many ferries operated to serve the heavy traffic that crossed the river, Subsequently he established another ferry in Cincinnati as the 1850 Census recorded that John Carnahan lived in Cincinnati and at his residence there were Persons Employed in Navigation... It is assumed that after he moved his family to Cincinnati his daughter Sabina met and married John Bickett in 1830. From "THE EARLY DAYS OF ST. MARTIN" - Sabina and John Bickett were brought to St. Martin by Archbishop John B. Purcell and his brother Father Edward to keep a boarding house and livery stable at the end of the convent lane. (The Maher family lives there now.) Their daughters Anna and Mary had already attended the Ursuline school as boarders and are listed among the 1845 students. John Bickett and Sabina Bickett were from Cincinnati where they owned and operated a livery stable. Their opening of a second livery stable and boarding house in St. Martin allowed visitors to the newly established Ursuline Convent and School to rent horses and carriages in Cincinnati, get fresh horses in St. Martin for their return trips and have a place to stay while in St. Martin. John, his wife Sabina Carnahan Bickett and their family lived and operated their boarding house immediately across from the entrance of the lane leading to the Ursuline convent and school. At the time it was called Bickett's Inn, today the building is called the Maher House. Sabina died about June 1860 in St. Martin at the age of 46.
