Three years later the family moved to Winneshief county, Ia., and later to Decorah. Here and in Canadagun, N.Y., she received her education. On May 7, 1873 at Decorah she was married to H. A. Maltby, to which union were born five children; Arthur J. of Aurelia; Dr. Harrison; W. of Chicago, who preceded her to the eternal home seven years ago; Addie E. and Lois M. of Cut Bank, Mont.; and Marion Maltby Coburn of Los Angeles. Besides these, her husband, three sisters, Mrs. Agnes McNeal of Cherokee, Mrs. G. P. Cleveland of Hornick, la., and Mrs. Otto Beckman of Denver, Col.; one brother, Mr. O. B. Fobes of Sioux City; seven grandchildren and one great grandson remain to treasure the memory of her life of purity, tenderness and faithfulness. In 1878 Mr. and Mrs. Maltby moved to Cherokee where they remained until 1910. when they went to Cut Bank, Mont., settling on a homestead, and later moving to the town, where Mr. Maltby was employed by the great Northern railroad. Mrs. Maltby was converted when but a young girl, and her whole later life bore evidence to the work of grace that was not only done at that time, but came as a result of her constant communion and fellowship with her Savior. Following her conversion, she joined the Congregational church, being transferred to the Methodist church in Cherokee, then to the Presbyterian church in Cut Bank. Wherever she went, she was active in Sunday school and missionary work, as well as other Christian activities until failing health prevented further activity. The last illness began on New Years day, and there was a gradual failing of her bodily powers due to great suffering, until two weeks previous to her death when she mercifully became unconscious to the things of this world. The end came very quietly at 4:20 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at her home in Cut Bank, Mont. The mortal remains were accompanied to Cherokee by her husband, H. A. Maltby and daughter Addie E. Maltby. The funeral services were at the Duvens Undertaking parlors, Saturday, March 23, 1929. Rev. Moore of the First Methodist church of Aurelia, la., officiated. While the family and friends mourn the loss of their beloved wife, mother and friend, yet they sorrow not as those who have no hope.
