She was born to John "Nelson" and Viletta M. (Fulford) (Cates) McConnell on October 20, 1931, near Sublimity, OR. She was the fourth in a family of five children. (Cates) Wells, 78, passed away December 14, 2009, at Rose Garden Estates in Omak, WA, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born to John "Nelson" and Viletta M. (Fulford) (Cates) McConnell on October 20, 1931, near Sublimity, OR. She was the fourth in a family of five children. The family moved to Disautel, WA in 1934. She started school in Disautel and finished her schooling in Omak. The family moved to Omak in 1942. She married Bob C. Wells in 1948. Two sons were born, Glenn in 1956, and Wayne in 1959. Bob was killed in a logging accident in 1971. Sadie finished raising her two sons alone. She worked as a waitress at the Nichols Cafe, at O & O Growers as a sorter and at Rawson's for many years. Bob and Sadie purchased an orchard on Pogue Flat, where she worked with Bob. She enjoyed playing bingo and the friendships of her fellow bingo players. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Senior Center. Sadie was a positive, fun loving lady, very much loved by all who knew her. She will be sorely missed by everyone. Sadie was preceded in death by her father, John "Nelson" Cates; mother, Viletta (Fulford) (Cates) McConnell; husband, Bob Wells; and brother, Alvin Cates. Sadie is survived by her sons, Glenn (Wendy) and Wayne (Debbee); four grandchildren, Misty, Aaron, Amanda and Tyler; three step-grandchildren, Tony, Kim and Miranda; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Evelyn) Cates and Jesse (Dorothy) Cates of Oregon; one sister, Bertha (Darold) Wells of Olympia; sister-in-law, Doris Cates of Omak; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2009, at Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel in Okanogan, with a luncheon to follow at the Okanogan Eagles Lodge. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bob, in the Okanogan Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel, Okanogan.
