Carter, had taken a dose of poison. The fatal drugs was taken about 1:30 P.M. but showed no signs of its deadly work until 3:30. Drs. Frank and Boon were immediately summoned but on their arrival it was found that no human power could check the work of the destroyer. Sadie was the embodiment of health and vigor hence the struggle between life and death was a severe one. The thrilling news were a greater surprise to the community owing to the gay and spiritual life which this young lady seemed always to enjoy. The cause of this rash act will be undoubtedly remain a profound secret as nothing has yet been discovered that will aid in solving the mysterious problem. She was born and raised in Bentonsport having just passed her 17th, birthday. Last winter she united with the Presbyterian Church since which time she had manifested a good deal of interest in the work of the church, especially that of the Sunday School. Owing to the fact that the Presbyterian church is without a regular pastor, the funeral sermon was preached by the pastor of the M E Church.
