Description	:	Sadie Gossett Kirby, 93, of 492 Fortanberry Road, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 25, 2011, at her residence. Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of J.C. Kirby and daughter of the late Harvey Gossett and Lillie Blackwell Gossett. Mrs. Kirby retired from the textiles industry and was the owner/operator of a grocery store. She was an avid cook, enjoyed working in her yard and was amember of Bethany Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Dwayne Kirby and wife, Patty, of Gaffney; two brothers, Wells Gossett and Willis Gossett, both of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Jill Elder and husband, Donald, Tim Kirby and wife, Lottie, and Stephanie Whelchel; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Kirby and Anna Owens. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Buice and Carrie Motts, and two brothers, Johnny Gossett and Jesse Gossett. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, at Oakland Cemetery with Dr. Ed McAbee officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340; or to the charity of one's choice. The familywill be at the home of Dwayne and Patty Kirby, 500 Fortanberry Road, Gaffney.
