Description	:	OAKLAND,MARYLAND -- Salem Shreve Jr., 90, of Oakland, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born May 29, 1919, in Garrett County, he was the son of the late Salem and Rosie (Aronhalt) Shreve. He was also preceded in death by a son, Miles Holland Shreve; by brothers, Melvin, Otis, Ernest, Benjamin, Arnold and Oliver Shreve; and by sisters, Bessie Shreve and Audrey Riley. Mr. Shreve retired from the Garrett County Roads Department after 26 years of employment, and was a charter member of the Loch Lynn Church of God, which was founded in 1958. Surviving is his wife,... Born May 29, 1919, in Garrett County, he was the son of the late Salem and Rosie (Aronhalt) Shreve. He was also preceded in death by a son, Miles Holland Shreve; by brothers, Melvin, Otis, Ernest, Benjamin, Arnold and Oliver Shreve; and by sisters, Bessie Shreve and Audrey Riley. Surviving is his wife, Laura Esther (Hanlin) Shreve, of Oakland; two sons, Charles Shreve and wife Patsy, of Oakland, Eugene Shreve and wife Mary, of Swanton; one brother, Lonnie Shreve and wife Pat, of Terra Alta, W.Va.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Loch Lynn Church of God with his pastor, the Rev. Ivan Ackerman officiating, assisted by pastors Cindy Ackerman and Robert Fletcher. The interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
