Description	:	Sallie Bett Puryear ,called Shiney, was the matriarch of the Puryear farm at Nelsons ,Va. 1913 with two young girls and her husband dead she kept the farm until she died in 1963. Her oldest daughter Sallie Bett Puryear Overbey married Walter Alphonso Overbey and under Shineys control they ran the farm with her and raised ten children themselves. AS WAS WITH THE PURYEAR A STRONG BELIEF IN SOUL AND GOD AND THAT ONCE LIFE WAS GONE THE BODY WAS TO BE RETURNED TO MOTHER EARTH WIHOUT A BIG SHOW ,FIELDSTONES WERE ALWAYS GOOD ENOUGH SALLIE BETT PURYEAR KEPT THE PROPERTY UNTIL HER DEATH AND THEN GAVE IT LOCK STOCK AND BARREL TO HER DAUGHTER SALLIE BETT OVERBEY. UPON THE DEATH OF SALLIE BETT OVERBEY THE PURYEAR PLANTATION CAME TO AN END. SALLIE BETT OVERBEY LEFT THE PEROPERTY TO HER HUSBAND WALTER A. OVERBY BUT WITH A CLAUSE ADDED THAT UPON HIS DEATH ,THE PROPERTY WOULD GO TO ROBERT OVERBEY AND NONE OF THE OTHER CHILDREN
