Description	:	Sam Westra, 91, of Sioux Center, IA, died Sunday, September 18, 1994, at the Sioux Center Community Health Center. Graveside services were held on Wednesday morning at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton, I A, the Reverend Robert Holwerda officiating. Memorial services followed at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Arrangements were made by Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center. Mr. Westra was bom December 16, 1902, in Friesland, The Netherlands, the son of John and Elsie (Schaaf) Westra. He was educated in the Netherlands through the sixth grade and moved to the United States with his family at the age of 14. He married Johanna Sinkey of Ireton on February 22, 1931, and the couple farmed near Ireton. They retired in 1976, and moved to Sioux Center, where they became members of Bethel Christian Reformed Church. Mrs. Westra preceded him in death. Mr. Westra was a former member of the Ireton Christian Reformed Church, where he served as deacon andjelder. Survivors include three sons and their wives, Marlin and Myrna Westra of Sioux Falls, SD, Eldon and Marcia Westra of Sioux Center, and Donald and Maryjane Westra of Fergus Falls, MN; 10 grandchildren; four foster grandchildren, two great-granddaughters; and two sisters, Mrs. Anne Kots of Bellflower, CA, and Mrs. Bertha Meyer of Jenison, MI.
