Description	:	Sampson Burke Brown married Rebecca Sarah Brackett about 1843. Rebecca was the daughter of Isaac Brackett III and Mary Clay. We have not found the marriage date of Sampson & Rebecca as there was a fire in the town that destroyed many vital pieces of information. We do know that Rebecca and sisters Mary Ann and Priscilla all married a BROWN surnamed persons. Priscilla married Benjamin B Brown (cousin to Sampson); and Mary married Stephen Brown (brother of Benjamin and a cousin of Sampson). Stephen and Benjamin are sons of Asa Brown from Littleton, NH. Sampson Burke Brown was the son of William Brown and his first wife Phoebe Holmes. William later married Polly Olds. Benjamin and Sampson did have sons that married sisters in the Gobar family. Hiram T Brown (Benjamin's son) married Victoria Gobar and William E Brown (Sampson's son) married Mary Gobar (see the find a grave link below). So the closeness of the families was apparent. They, Sampson & Rebecca, had only these 11 children: 1) Fitch Charles Brown (1843-1911) Everybody wrote Fitch. He was the "go to man" in the family. Those letters have helped give a very close inside view of the family. Fitch married Lucinda E Stewart dau of Wm & Roxy Stewart. 2) Dexter Isaac Brown (1846-1904). Dexter married Nettie Stewart, the dau of Wm & Roxy Stewart. 3) George C Brown (1848-?). George married Almira Flagle. 4) Mary B Brown (1851-1899). Mary married Leroy Plummer. 5) Ellen Brown (1852-1860). Ellen died young and never married. 6) Allen Potter Brown(1853-1927). Allen married Edith Saunders. 7) Sewel Brown (1855-1889) died in an accident at work. He never married nor had issue. 8) Flora L Brown (1857-1898) married John T Brown who was of no relation to the Sampson Brown line. Flora's line come from immigrant Richard Brown and Elizabeth Greenleaf whereas John T Brown's line is from Immigrant John Brown and Hester Makepeace. 9) Frances A Brown (1860-1917). Frances married Benjamin F Alger. 10 William Ellsworth Brown (1862-1958) was a Freemason. Wm married Mary Gobar and they divorced and he married Frankie Dixon. 11) Daniel R Brown (1864-1951). Daniel married Ruth P Hicks. Daniel was the youngest child that Sampson and Rebecca had. Sampson died young at age 43. Dexter and his family moved back in with his mom, Rebecca and her young children. It was a difficult life and letters show that Dexter was abusive to his wife and family. It is believed that he was an alcoholic. NOTE: There was no son of Sampson & Rebecca named Samuel. That is a transcription error in a census record. They ONLY had the above eleven children. Sampson B Brown was a farmer in Morristown and Hyde Park. The farm was located on the border of Hyde park and Morristown in the old Cady Falls section. That part of the town of Hyde Park which is now in Morristown.
