Description	:	Death is from the Journal Reporter June 10, 1909. In part it says born in Beaver Co. PA April 22, 1825. Moved to Gallia Co. Ohio 1855, and from there to Decatur Co. Iowa, 1865, where he resided until ten years ago when he moved to his present home at Lineville. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Humes, 1852. To this union were born 3 children, Mary Emma, wife of J. R. Evans of Lineville, David, Franklin and Virginia, the wife and children preceding him in death. Ohio 1855, and from there to Decatur Co. Iowa, 1865, where he resided until ten years ago when he moved to his present home at Lineville. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Humes, 1852. To this union were born 3 children, Mary Emma, wife of J. R. Evans of Lineville, David, Franklin and Virginia, the wife and children preceding him in death. He was united in marriage to Julia Ratkin, Jan. 3rd 1861. To this union were born 4 children, Wm. Hinds of Leon, John and Geor. Hinds of Decatur county, and Mrs. S.E. Moors of Creston, who with his present wife were with him during his last sickness and death. He was a soldier in the Union army, was captain of the Squirrel Hunters in the year, 1863. Volunteered in the regular service in 1864. He was orderly sargeant of Co. D. 179, regiment Ohio Vol. Inf. in which capacity he served until the close of the war. He was converted in Feb. 1870, in a meeting at the Bright school house, coducted by Rev. Duffield, of the U.B. Church since which time he has lived a consistent christian life. He united with the M.E. church South at Wesley Chapel, Feb. 1891. He died as he had lived, without an enemy in the world. He died May 28, having been a patient sufferer for years, being confined to his bed most of the time for the past five years. He leaves besides his wife and children mentioned, 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
