Funeral at Ralston U. B. Church on Tuesday in Charge of Rev. Hammond. Dr. Samuel A. Dillavou, for twenty-one years a well known veterinarian at Ralston, died at his home in that town last Sunday. He had not been in good health of some time, but had been able to practice his profession until a few days before his death.. Dr. Dillavou leaves a host of relatives in eastern Carroll and Western Greene county. His folks were among the earliest settlers of that community, and practically all of his life was spent in these two counties.. Samuel A. Dillavou, son of James and Nancy Dillavou, was born in Greene county, July 23, 1867, and departed this life July1, 1923, at the age of 55 years, 11 months and 8 days. He has lived in Ralston for the last twenty-one years.. When about 23 years of age he attended a veterinary school in Denver and has since worked at the profession.. On December 4, 1892, he was united in marriage to Harriett Powers, who together with three children survives him. One daughter, May, preceded him in death four years ago. Besides the immediate family he leaves one brother, Amos, and two sisters, Mrs. Anise Jordan and Mrs. Stacy Rider, also two half-brothers, George and John and two half-sisters, Mary Baggs and Becky Dillavou.. Funeral services were held from the U. B. Church in Ralston Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. D.I. Hammond. A quartette consisting of Hammond Bros., Gerald Miller and Harry Copenhaver, sang several selections. The pallbearers were Willard Bates, A.U. Nesbitt, Adolphus Wright, Herbert Harshbarger, William Morgan and Chas. Caywood. The church was filled with relatives and friends. Burial took place at the Dillavou cemetery.. Card of Thanks-. We wish to thank the kind neighbors and friends who in any way assisted us during the sickness and after the death of our husband and father.. Mrs. S. A. Dillavou and children..
