| Description | : | Mr. Samuel Arant, a Confederate veteran and one of the county's oldest citizens, died Saturday afternoon at his home in Buford township, following a long illness. the deceased was about 89 years old and is survived by his wife, one son, Mr. Conrad Arant, and four daughters. The daughters are Mesdames Simon Moser, Dewitt Rape, Richard Plyler and W. T. Rorie. Mr. Arant was a member of the Methodist church. While serving with the Confederate army he was severely wounded. I found a newspaper article that said Samuel Arant married Jane Porter in lancaster, SC. This Samuel Arant. So, I think this is one of his wives. He married three times, Eliza Plyler and Rorie as well.

I found another child of Samuel Arant, Tinnia "Tiny" Arant Deese, wife of Raymond Deese. She and her children repeatedly say her father was Samuel Arant and mother Sallie Carnes. Raymond and Tiny Deese (couple) were both born in Lancaster Co, SC.
