Interment was at Old Memory Cemetery, New Market. ********* Obituary Funeral services for Samuel Arvy Baker, 78, of Gravity were held September 19 at the Gravity Christain Church, conducted by Rev. Ivo Randels. Mr. Baker was killed in a tractor accident on his farm September 16, 1967. Interment was at Old Memory Cemetery, New Market. Samuel Arvy Baker son of Bryant Tipton Baker and Elizabeth Sowles-Baker was born Aug. 25, 1889. He lived all of his life in the Gravity vicinity. He was united in marriage to Clara Jones Jan. 3, 1912. A nephew Darold Cooper was raised in the home as a son from early childhood. He was proceeded in death by his parents and one brother, Gus Baker. He is survived by his wife Clara, and adopted son, Darold Cooper of Loveland, Colo.: two sister, Mrs. Helen Wolfe of Shenandoah and Mrs. Jessie Churchill of Gravity and one brother Elroy Baker of Villisca. Mr. Baker was a kindly neighborly man and a good family man. He was hard working, industrious and frugal as attested by a man his age still farming. ******** Arvy and Clara never had children of their own. When Clara's sister Jennie died, she and Arvy took her youngest son Darold Dorman Cooper and raised as their own.
