A third occupant of the boat, Jerry Mitchell, 28, of Woodbridge, at whose home the other two were visiting, was rescued by his brother, Hardy Mitchell, who was about three-quarters of a mile off shore when the accident happened. Funeral Services: The bodies were shipped to the Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell, and double funeral services were held Wednesday at two p.m. at the Doe Hill Methodist Church, with burial in Doe Hill cemetery. The Rev. L.O. Rose was in charge of the services. Mr Snyder is survived by his wife, Mrs Laura Kiracofe Snyder; one daughter, Norma and one son William: five brothers, Roy of McDowell, Jason and Clem of Covington, Clay of Doe Hill and Harvey of West Virginia; and one sister Mrs Cameron Hoover, Doe Hill. Mr Karicofe, veteran of World Wars I and II, is survived by his wife, Connie Reiff Karicofe: three brothers, Russell of Churchville, and Booker and Charles of Doe Hill; and one sister, Mrs. Samuel Snyder. Highland Recorder February 14, 1908 The Doe Hill correspondent of the South Branch Review, of date Feb. 1st, says, Sam Snyder son of John Snyder came near freezing to death Saturday night. He went to meet, his brother who had been at Staunton after a load of merchandise. The young man started back on foot but only got as far as Mr. Cam Hoover's cattle shed where he stayed until morning, his feet and bands are frozen black. It is supposed part of them will have to be amputated. Highland Recorder April 18, 1930 Mr. Sam Snyder who drives the Doe Hill Mercantile Co’s truck, upset about two and a half miles south of Doe Hill Monday with a load of fertilizer, but escaped without any damage being done.
