Description	:	Sam, born Saverio Cicco, arrived in the US from Gizzario Italy in 1910. He worked as a supervisor for the railroad and open his own businesses, Chick's and the Diamond. He worked as a supervisor for the railroad and open his own businesses, Chick's and the Diamond. Sam, my grandpa, use to come and stay with us Christmas Eve and spend the night. When we were little, we never saw our tree until Christmas morning. We were led to believe that Santa brought everything, including the decorated tree. Little did we know that our parents and grandpa spent the time after we were put to bed making Christmas magic! When us kids would wake up we would sneak down the steps, and hope that Grandpa would not come out of the bathroom yet, and be in awe of the tree. We would then run back up the stairs and wait for Grandpa to appear. He would yell at dad, "Wayne, get up, these kids need to go downstairs!" We would wait in the upstairs hall with Grandpa while Dad got out of bed and went down and light the tree! Once Dad gave the OK, Grandpa would let us go and we would rush down to see everything. I can still feel the excitement of Christmas morning seeing that beautiful tree all lit up and presents all around it. Grandpa also would spend Sunday's with us and after dinner would try to teach us Italian. I still remember sitting on the floor and him drawing on a little chalkboard the pictures and then the words as to what he was teaching us. I miss and loved him very much.
