Description	:	"A SUDDEN DEATH. Samuel Culp of Portage township, one of the best known men in the county, died suddenly at his home Wednesday evening. He was seized with suffocation and stepped out onto the porch to get fresh air. In a few moments he re-entered the house and sat down in a chair. His condition alarmed the family, who proposed to send for a physician, but Mr. Culp told them it was of no use as he would die in a few minutes. Samuel Culp of Portage township, one of the best known men in the county, died suddenly at his home Wednesday evening. He was seized with suffocation and stepped out onto the porch to get fresh air. In a few moments he re-entered the house and sat down in a chair. His condition alarmed the family, who proposed to send for a physician, but Mr. Culp told them it was of no use as he would die in a few minutes. They then asked if they should send for his sister and he replied that they would not more than get started before he would die. In less than fifteen minutes he was a corpse, heart failure being the cause of death. The funeral was deferred until Monday to enable Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Tripp, son-in-law and daughter of the deceased, to reach home from Evanston, Wyo. They arrived Sunday evening and the remains were brought to McComb for burial Monday noon. Services at the grave were conducted by Rev. Scoles. Mr. Culp was born at Lancaster, Fairfield Co., O., and his age was 72 years. He came to this county in 1831 and in 1849 he went to California, where he spent several years. He leaves a widow, three sons and three daughters."
