Read More	Samuel Edward Brodie Samuel Edward Brodie Oct. 16, 1931 - July 4, 2006 Sam was born on October 16, 1931 in Colfax, WA. and went home to be with our Lord on July 4th 2006 in Bakersfield, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Lothspeich Brodie and John Scales Brodie. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Marilyn, daughter Janet Stotts and her husband Daryl, daughter Lisa Warner, and three grandchildren Samantha and Daryl Stotts II, and Peyton Warner. He is also survived by his sisters Ann Foster, Jean Earls and her husband Tom, and Brother Michael Brodie and his wife Jane, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Sam grew up in Colfax, WA and graduated from Colfax High School in 1949 . He entered the Army Feb. 4, 1951 serving his country proudly in the Korean Conflict as a member of the 40th Infantry Division, 140th Tank Platoon. He was a tank commander and Sgt. 1st Class and saw combat serving along the front lines for a year. He received the Bronze Star with a V for Valor. His ribbons include the Korean Ribbon, United Nations Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbonand the American Defense Service Ribbon. He was honorably discharged July 23, 1952. After his military service, Sam attended Northup University, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Science as a Mechanical Engineer in Aeronautics, in 1960. Sam's specialty was for helicopters. During his 46 year career he was involved in the development of many new aircraft and became a well respected member of the Helicopter community. Sam was very active in the Safety Committee of theHelicopter Association nternational (HAI), and until the time of his death was the Chairman of the Restricted Category Committee. Sam was also one of the "founding fathers" of the FAA Rotorcraft Directorate and many of the policies he helped establish are still in force today. Sam had other outside interests; he was a member of the Elks, Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Eagles and American Legion. Sam loved to garden and enjoyed the company of his family, especially that of his three grandchildren. Sam will be missed; he was a great man, friend, father, grandfather, brother, and husband. Our loss is heaven's gain, and we rest knowing he is in the presence of the Lord. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, the American Cancer Society, or to Children's Miracle Network at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield, CA 327-1792 ext 4641. A vigil service will be held Monday, July 10th at 7:00 PM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colfax. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 11th at 10:00 AM at the church.
