Description	:	"WINONA, June 6, 1882 ED. Era: -- Last week our friend "Mystery" made mention of the serious illness of our aged friend, Samuel Bennett. We are now called upon to chronicle the death of this much respected and beloved citizen. This sorrowful scene was witnessed yesterday evening by his wife and all his children. The community this morning is saddened with the intelligence of so great a loss. The deceased, whose illness lasted but little over ten days, suffered the most excessive agony attributed to neuralgia, which was accompanied with stricture of the bowels. Mr. Bennett... The community this morning is saddened with the intelligence of so great a loss. The deceased, whose illness lasted but little over ten days, suffered the most excessive agony attributed to neuralgia, which was accompanied with stricture of the bowels. Mr. Bennett has always been noted for his honesty, integrity and usefulness, --a proof that such was duly appreciated-- by the people of this township is that he was elected to the position of Justice of the Peace for twenty seven years. He was born in Chester county, Pa. March 10th, 1803; moved to this county about the year 1829. Since which he has lived at his late residence most of the time. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, leaving the house at 11 o'clock A.M. The deceased being surrounded by a host of relatives and friends, it is expected that a large concourse of people will comprise the funeral cortege to the place of rest for the remains,--Woods Dale cemetery. We look around and feel the loss Of him who now is gone; We never more shall hear his voice, Save in fond memorie's tone. And start to hear the mornful sounds, Within that cottage wall, Of the loved, for the departed, As they gather round the pall. Gale." The above was printed in an unknown newspaper and found among items of Jessie Anna Woolman Peacock, my mother-in-law.
