Harris of Henderson and took the spirit of little Samuel Harris Yerkes, the four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. D.M. Yerkes of Philadelphia, PA., and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. S.R. Harris. Mrs. Yerkes and children had been visiting her parents for the past few weeks and the little boy was taken sick after they came. His illness was of a very serious nature from the beginning, and Mr. Yerkes was notified of the serious illness of his child and he reached his beside several days before the end came. Harris was a bright boy and unusually obedient to his parents. May the Lord bless the bereaved ones and may they all meet the sweet spirit of the little Harris on the other shore. The funeral was conducted by the writer(Rev. J. D. Williams) Saturday, Aug 28th at the home of S.R. Harris. In Memorium - (written by his grandfather S.R. Harris) Little Harris has gone. Just four years old this summer, and yet so gentle and so manly; always lovable and kind so that you just couldn't blame God for taking him. I wanted him, oh so much, and in fact all who knew him seemed to want him; and yet all our love couldn't keep him. We love his memory and always shall. His pile of sand and his sand mill -- his place at the table -- his chair he used -- the saddle and the pony --the gate through which he watched the "moo cow" -- all the games he played and all the words he used seem a thousand times hallowed by his sweet associations. Often in my dreams I feel his little arms around "Nandad's" neck and woke to find an awful vacancy. I wonder whether he was taken because he was too good for this world, or because he was just ripe for the other. If heaven is made up of his kind, what a resplendent glory it must be.
