Spickler had died about six o'clock that evening from the effects of the stings of a swarm of bees. Mr. Spickler had many stands of bees and for some years had derived considerable income from the sale of honey. Mr. Spickler had many stands of bees and for some years had derived considerable income from the sale of honey. Saturday afternoon he located a swarm in a tree and climbed up to cut off the limb and hive the swarm. Mrs. Spickler noted the bees were angry and advised caution. In lowering the branch the bees became dislodged and enraged, attacking Mr. Spickler, and stinging him about the face and head. He went into the house and lay down and his wife noticing he was pale summoned a doctor who administered an antidote, Later the injured man took a sudden turn for the worse and passed away before the doctor could return. Mr. Spickler was well known in this, locality where he had lived for many years, a genial, kindly man, having many friends. For many years he had busied himself with his fruit, bees and his garden patch at his home in the east part of town. Funeral services in charge of Rev. W. F. Clayburg. assisted by Rev. H. A. Wingard. were held at the Methodist church here Wednesday. afternoon. Interment was in the local cemetery. Samuel Spickler was born March 5, 1852 at Milian, Illinois and was therefore 79 years, 3 months and 15 days old at the time of his death. His early boyhood was spent in Henry county, Illinois. In October, 1875 he was united in marriage to Fannie Badham at Rock Island, Illinois, and a few years later came to Iowa and Coon Rapids. To this union were born Edith L. Anderson of Royal Center, South Dakota; Sadie M. Conner, who died in 1904: John N . Spickler of Chicago, Illinois: and Miss Myrtle Spickler of Omaha. In addition to the wife and children, there are living two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Bell of Coon Rapids and Mrs. Nancy Dillenbeck of Geneseo, Illinois. There are also six grandchildren and five great grand children to mourn his passing. Mr. Spickler united with the Christian church about thirty years ago.
