He is survived by his daughters, Faye Coates and Susan Coates; his son, Dennis Jenkins; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kellum, Melissa West, Wilford Coates, Jr., Jonathan Coates, Heather Shackelford, Kyler Jenkins, Amanda Jenkins and Jennifer Jenkins; and 6 great grandchildren. Graveside memorial service officiated by Reverend Margaret Louden will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2016 at Gloucester Point Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. In memory of Sam contributions may be given to Riverside Walter Reed Hospice, 7358 Main Street, Gloucester, VA 23061. Arrangements by Hogg Funeral Home and Crematory, Gloucester Point.
