Description	:	Samuel Jenkins, one of the oldest settlers of Coffins Grove township, passed away at his home northwest of Masonville on Monday, March 22nd, 1915. Mr. Jenkins was born in Ohio, on November 18th, 1824, and came to Delaware county in 1856. He resided on his farm practically all of the time since he came to the county. Funeral services will be held from the family home on Thursday forenoon, and interment will be made in Greenwood cemetery near Masonville. Manchester Democrat - Manchester, Iowa - March 24, 1815 ---------- Samuel Jenkins was born in 1824, in Marion county, Ohio, and died March 22, 1915. His parents died when he was a very small child, and he was then reared to young manhood by an uncle. When fourteen years of age he went to Missouri and at 19 he left for Oregon, Ogle county, Illinois. On the 134th day of August, 1850, he was united in marriage with Sarah Farrell. He moved to Iowa in the fall of 1856, and lived in Freemont township, Buchanan county, where he resided until the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and five children; The children are John Samuel of South Sioux City, Neb., Frank of Aurora, Iowa; Minnie, at home, and Mrs. Libby Hendershott of Plainview, Nebraska. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the lat home Thursday forenoon, and were conducted by Rev. Wesley Maach of Dundee, and interment was made in the Masonville cemetery. Mr. Jenkins was a farmer by occupation. He was a consistent member of the Baptist church.
