Read More	OBITUARY Samuel John Welsch was born on October 16, 1857 at Emma, Lafayette county, Missouri, and died at 4:45 a.m. on April 30, 1927, at the age of 69 years, 6 months and 14 days. He was baptized November 8, 1857, and spent his early childhood in Missouri. He later moved with his parents to Iowa where he was confirmed by his father on March 24, 1872. At this time he already assisted his father with the church work by playing the organ. On August 27, 1878, the family left Burlington, Iowa for their new home in Nebraska, settling at West Blue where he spent the remainder of his life. On November 25, 1891, he was united in marriage to Miss Emilie Holz. To this union five children were born, all of whom, with their mother, survive him. Shortly after coming to West Blue, he joined the church, serving it faithfully as its organist and as a Sunday school worker, and was always ready to help whenever anything was to be done. It was a rare occasion not to see him in his place, thinking not of self, but of others. Mr. Welsch was a member of the Farmers Mutual Insurance company, serving as its president for many years. He also served as president of the Crete Grain and Livestock Association for almost ten years, having been a member of its board of directors from the beginning of the association. He has held, at one time or another, most of the offices of his precinct. He was a member of the board of directors of the First State Bank of Crete, which office he held at the time of his death. In September, 1922, he suffered a paralytic stroke from which he recovered as he did from one in June, 1925. However, on April 29, 1927, he suffered a third stroke which caused his death. Those left to mourn his loss are: his wife, four sons, John, Fred, Harry and Emil; one daughter, Thusnelda, three daughters in law, seven grandchildren, two brothers, Benjamin of Lincoln, and William of Milford, one sister, Mrs. John Benne of Crete, two brothers-in-law, Lou Holz of Alberqueque, New Mexico, and John Benne of Crete, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Benjamin Welsch of Lincoln and Mrs. William Welsch of Milford, and many other relatives and a host of friends.
