Description	:	Samuel John House, 89, of Keosauqua, Iowa passed away on December 29, 2020 at his home. He was born on April 20, 1931 to Earl and Bessie VanLaningham House in Pontoosuc, Illinois. Sam married Evelyn Louise Winters on November 30, 1951. Shortly after they were married, Sam was enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from Louden’s after 25 years and spent many more years fixing... Read More	Samuel John House, 89, of Keosauqua, Iowa passed away on December 29, 2020 at his home. He was born on April 20, 1931 to Earl and Bessie VanLaningham House in Pontoosuc, Illinois. Sam married Evelyn Louise Winters on November 30, 1951. Shortly after they were married, Sam was enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, Sam worked for Hohl and Hohl as a mechanic and then went to work for ACCO Louden in Fairfield as a welder. He retired from Louden’s after 25 years and spent many more years fixing tractors and restoring machinery. Sam and Louise had a small farm and he enjoyed farming. He was a member of Beer-Barker Post #113 of the American Legion, attended the Keosauqua United Methodist Church and was a volunteer fireman for 25 years. Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. Together, Sam and Louise enjoyed traveling. They were able to visit Amy in North Carolina, went to London when Dale was stationed there, and took a couple trips on U.S. Naval ships around North America. He is survived by his wife, E. Louise of Keosauqua; a son, Dale J. House of Keosauqua; a daughter, Amy (Leslie) Briggs of Keosauqua; two nephews, Gary Helterbran of Hillsboro, Eugene Helterbran of Keosauqua; and special friend, Barbara Craig of Keosauqua. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William T. House, Jesse Robert House; two sisters, Helen Helterbran, Marie Landrith; and special friends, Dale Craig, Lester and Maxine Hohl. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Pedrick Funeral Home – Keosauqua with Pastor Larry Shipley officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be at Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Pedrick Funeral Home – Keosauqua. Memorial contributions in Sam’s honor may be made to the family to be designated at a later date and can be left at the funeral home or mailed to 19829 205th St., Keosauqua, Iowa 52565.
