Born July 20, 1931 in Fountain Inn to the late John C. and Lillian A. McCarter. Samuel served two years in the military during the Korean War. He retired from People's Motor Company after twenty-three years and started cattle farming and gardening. He enjoyed growing tomatoes and sharing them with his family and friends. Born July 20, 1931 in Fountain Inn to the late John C. and Lillian A. McCarter. Samuel served two years in the military during the Korean War. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Virginia Ann Curry McCarter; two sons, Michael Lewis and Charles Wilton (Dava) McCarter of Fountain Inn; two grandchildren, Ryann Ashlyn and Connor Garrett McCarter of Fountain Inn; a sister, Jane McCarter Vaughan and brother in-law, James Vaughan, several nieces and nephews and special friend of the family Joel Garrett. He was predeceased by a brother, John Wilton (Beth) McCarter. Funeral services with military honors be held at 3pm on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Green Pond United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Bob Keely. Visitation will begin at 2pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to acknowledge the loyal service caregivers of Team Care Force. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
