As above noted the death of William Pedrick was followed in 21 hours by that of his son, both from the same affliction. William Pedrick was born at Greenfield, Ohio, February 11, 1826 came to Iowa and Wapello County in the spring of 1855 and located on the Pedrick farm near Ottumwa where he tilled and lived and attained to prominence as a citizen of splendid character, and his family was grown to useful manhood and womanhood. He is survived, since the death of his son Samuel, by three children, in order named, A. L. Pedrick, Chariton, Iowa, H. C. Pedrick and Mrs. L. W. Roth, Ottumwa. At the late home, that of Mrs. Roth, 1207 North Wapello, will be held tomorrow afternoon, brief services for William Pedrick and on Sunday afternoon at 2:30, at the same time and place as that of his mom's funeral, will be held the final services of both. Samuel Pedrick, the son, aged 56, passed away in less than twenty-four hours after his father's demise, following treatment at the hospital for two weeks. Samuel Pedrick's death occurred this morning at 4:10. Deceased is survived by seven children. Officiating at the double funeral at the late farm home of Samuel Pedrick will be Dr. Ames R. Montgomery of the First Presbyterian Church for the elder man and Rev. E. F. Priest of the First Christian Church, for the bereaved family and friends of the son. Interment at the McIntire Cemetery. The attendance at this double funeral when the caskets of the father and son will be placed side by side is expected to be the largest county assemblage on such occasions possible to recall. Not only because of the singular coincidence of two deaths so close together in one family as it is to the desire of innumerable friends, who had known both men in life for so many years, to offer homage. Father and son passing from their respective communities so nearly the same hour brings a sadness of uncommon degree and widespread as they were held in high esteem. The Pedrick family and the name to this community has ever been conspicuous for honor and industry and neighborliness and the business, social and church associations they sustained will keenly feel this loss.
