Description	:	GEORGETOWN \| Samuel Martin Morris, husband of Melda K. Morris, went to his heavenly home Thursday, October 29, 2009. He was born October 12, 1921, the son of the late Samuel Robert Morris and Bertie Cribb Morris in Georgetown County, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Winyah High School and retired from International Paper Company after 42 and one half years. He was a member of the IP Quarter Century Club and a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, 3rd Marine Division from July 7, 1944 to May 31, 1946. He participated in the invasion of Iwo... Read More	GEORGETOWN \| Samuel Martin Morris, husband of Melda K. Morris, went to his heavenly home Thursday, October 29, 2009. He was born October 12, 1921, the son of the late Samuel Robert Morris and Bertie Cribb Morris in Georgetown County, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Winyah High School and retired from International Paper Company after 42 and one half years. He was a member of the IP Quarter Century Club and a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, 3rd Marine Division from July 7, 1944 to May 31, 1946. He participated in the invasion of Iwo Jima for 26 days in 1945, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a member and former deacon of Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was active in the Men's and Golden Youth Fellowships, the Adult Sunday School Class, and served as an usher. Martin and Melda were married January 7, 1950 and celebrated 59 years together. From this blessed union came a son, Martin Terry ( Karen) Morris; three daughters Barbara M. (Larry) Joye, Sandra M. (Bill) Blake, and Karen M. (Gerry) Mucci; grandchildren, Traci Watson, Jay Joye, Regan Wood, Kristin Morris, Caroline Morris, Adam Blake, April Hetzel, Alex Blake, Dana Mucci, and Craig Mucci; and great-grandchildren, Makenzie Watson, Parker Watson, Gibson Wood, and Elijah Brooks Joye. He was predeceased by his mother; and two sisters, Nolie Morris and Rena Springs. A Celebration of Life service with Military Honors will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church, with interment in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. The Rev. Clide Glover, the Rev. Ed Watson, and the Rev. Jay Joye will officiate. Memorials may be made to Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church, P.O.
