Description	:	Samuel Max Plair Sr. 91, of Strong died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Strong, Arkansas, on November 27, 1918 to Samuel Lee and Evie Penn Spencer Plair. He was a life long member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Strong, where he served as an elder and deacon and was also on the cemetery board. He was born in Strong, Arkansas, on November 27, 1918 to Samuel Lee and Evie Penn Spencer Plair. He was a life long member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Strong, where he served as an elder and deacon and was also on the cemetery board. He retired from Monsanto Chemical Plant where he was a boiler maker. He loved fishing, hunting, trapping, smoking meat, and making wine and giving it away. He married Gertrude Grantham Plair, on Arpil 18, 1946, and they were together for 54 years until her death October 5, 2000. He met her in Tallahassee, Florida while serving in the Army Air Corps ,where he made the rank of Master Sargent while serving in England, France and Germany. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gertrude Grantham Plair, and two brothers, J. W. Plair, and Collis M. "Pete" Plair. He is survived by a son, Samuel Max Plair Jr, of Tucson, Arizona, two daughters, Lois Marie Birkhead and fiancé Mel Posey of El Dorado, Virginia Kathleen Cheatam (Eddie) of Crossett and two grandchildren, Seth Edward Cheatam (Sandy) and Gina Marie Cheatam, and great grandchildren, George, Jack, and Joel Cheatam and one sister Avress Mc Michael of El Dorado, and a sister-n-law Elaine Plair of Texas. Funeral services was Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 2PM at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Strong with Bro. Sam Shepperson officiating. Burial follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, January 29, 2010, from 5-7PM at Perry's Funeral Chapels in Strong.
