He was married to the late Cindy Haney Gibson, who died in 2005. Mr. Gibson was a native of Spartanburg County and a son of the late Sam and Beatrice Wines Gibson. He was an electrician and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include sons, Lamar and Shawn Gibson of Seneca, SC; and a daughter, Sherry Gibson of Seneca; sisters, Edith Poteat of Spartanburg, Catherine Ernandez of Lancaster, SC, and Susie Bridges of Union, SC. Dr. John Lancaster will officiate. The family will be at the home of a sister, Edith Poteat.
